Reviewing Celebrity Halloween Costumes, 2022 Edition
This year, the Halloween fits sported by various celebrities were anything but ordinary. With Halloween 2022 being the first truly back-to-normal Halloween since the pandemic, some of the costumes worn were top-notch, but others hit a different mark. Let’s take a look!
Best Costumes:
Kylie Jenner

Kylie did not come out to play this year. The Bride of Frankenstein could have been one of her best costumes yet. She recreated the character from the 1935 film with perfectly matching makeup and hair. Her gown was a custom Jean Paul Gaultier piece with matching heels and mummy-style white gloves. The photoshoot posted on her Instagram mimicked the fashion shoot done in the movie to create a sexy-spooky effect.
Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch & Camila Mendes

The Riverdale trio could not have picked a better costume. With the “Hocus Pocus” sequel coming out this year, the timing combined with the execution made for the perfect costume for 2022. All three of the Sanderson Sisters from the movie were a match made in heaven with Lili, Madelaine, and Camila with their hair colors and personalities.
Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj never shies away from making a bold statement. The singer took Cinderella, aka Chunderalla, to a whole new level now that she has a family of her own. The light blue couture dress accentuates her curves with a carved out back, showcasing her version of the princess as a “Super Freaky Girl.”
Neil Patrick Harris Family

Neil Patrick Harris captions his Instagram post, “Trick Or Meat.” The Burtka-Harris family dressed up as fast food mascots this Halloween. The twins dressed up as Wendy and Colonel Sanders, while Neil was Ronald McDonald and David was the Burger King himself. Every year, the family goes all out with their costumes, setting a high bar, but there was no denying that this year’s costume was iconic.
Worst Costumes:
Heidi Klum

Mariyah Carey is our Queen of Christmas, Martha Stewart owns Thanksgiving, Taylor Swift nails the 4th of July, and no one does Halloween like Heidi Klum! Usually, Heidi never fails to impress with her bold costumes – including last year’s zombie-mom look. This year, she went as a…worm. Heidi claimed she spent two years working on this costume and that she was aiming to serve something unexpected and unfamiliar. In that case, this look killed it. Who expected to see global supermodel Heidi Klum squirm and flop on down a red carpet? Shock value aside, Heidi’s costumes have seen better years.
Kendall Jenner

This costume might be the opposite of cool as a cucumber. The health grind and Kendall’s cucumber obsession went a little too overboard here. In past years, Kendall’s costumes have always been top tier. Nonetheless, it is comical to see her poking fun at her lack of cucumber cutting skills from her viral reality show moment in this year’s Halloween costume.
Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly were dressed in a very controversial religious costume this year. They left the costume open to interpretation, but it seems to be the couple went as no other than themselves. Megan and MGK already claimed to have drank each other’s blood, so is this suggestive look all that surprising? For them, these fits look like something they would wear on a grocery store run to get a case of water and chapstick.
Lizzo

We all know Lizzo has the confidence to pull off anything. Even so, this year’s Marge Simpson costume was subpar compared to her previous extraordinary looks. Her entire body was spray painted yellow with sky high blue hair. While Lizzo captures the cartoon character well, the look did not live up to the expectations set by last year’s jaw-dropping Baby Yoda fit.
2022 has been a year for costumes ranging from spectacular to mediocre. I’m already looking forward to see what costumes celebrities bring to the table in 2023!
