13 Things Under the Christmas Tree of my Dreams

The time has come.

The leaves are falling and 2021 is coming to a close, and that means only one thing: the holidays are upon us. The season of hot drinks, twinkling lights, Michael Bublé Christmas music… and PRESENTS. If I were Veruca Salt, these would be the things I demanded from people this year.

  1. A colorful scarf
brown/lilac/navy checked scarf from Acne Studios, $290

Throw this onto anything and you can call it a fit. A pop of color is lovely as the days get grayer, and while this piece from Acne Studios is gorgeous, there are ones just as pretty and way more affordable on Etsy or at your local boutique. Regret of the month is not snagging the one I found at the Merrygold Shop in Queen Village last weekend.

2. Platform boots

These babies feel oh so Red (Taylor’s Version). I love a good platform boot with which to stomp on my enemies, and this dark cherry red color is beautiful. I feel an overwhelming urge to run through a pile of leaves, or maybe walk around mysteriously with a hot drink in hand, with these on my feet.

3. Perfume

she was an anomaly 30ml from Etat Libre D’Orange, $58

I’ve decided I am now a perfume girl, and this elegant, musky, floral fragrance from Etat Libre D’Orange is the perfect accessory to fuel my individuality complex.

4. A cute bag

medium nylon crescent bag in black from Baggu, $48

This crescent bag from Baggu is sustainably made and packaged, durable, and would probably go with anything. AND ADJUSTABLE STRAPS! What more could you ask for?

5. A little black dress

davies bustier denim mini dress in black from Reformation, $178

With its clean, streamlined cut, this denim dress from Reformation can be dressed up or dressed down. I’m a sucker for a pretty square neck, too. Would probably wear this to the grocery store.

6. Body care things!

the body ritual in sandalwood from Necessaire, $80

I’m a huge fan of Necessaire’s fresh, skincare-for-the-body products. I tried their body essentials set in Bergamot a while ago and felt like an angel had descended from the heavens and showered me in citrusy blessings every time I stepped out of the bathroom. I must feel that again.

7. A red lip

the lip trio in cranberry from Glossier, $50

I’ve been on the hunt for that perfect subtle darkish shade to deepen my lip color for that Clinique Black Honey-y bitten look, and this berry red shade is so pretty. I love the option for three different vibes, from gloss to balm to lipstick, to fit any mood.

8. A wall calendar

2022 wall calendar by Lucy Campbell from LupiArts on Etsy, $20.81

I love finding new artists, and Etsy is an incredible place to discover them. These whimsical pieces from LupiArt are beautiful. I’m obsessed with her dreamlike illustrative style. And 12 months of it? Sign me up!

9. Chunky sandals

maize platform sandal in sycamore from Reformation, $186

I love a cutesy chunky sandal like this one. That pretty ruched detail? The silky satin fabric? That lovely forest green color? A platform? I want this shoe and every shoe like it.

10. A reed diffuser

california-norcal reed diffuser from homesick, $39

I’m from Northern California and my mom has this candle at home, so the scent makes me all mushy and nostalgic. A reed diffuser is also a great, long-lasting, dorm-friendly alternative to a candle!
