With the end of September came the end of Paris Fashion Week.
Every year, clicking through Vogue’s backstage and runway pictures of models in beautiful clothing is a treat . The tradition of Fashion Week is not new. In 1943, the first actual “press” fashion week was held in New York City. However, fashion shows originated in the 1800’s in France, where prized clients were treated to private shows of haute couture. Fashion Week has come a long way since then, but its mission remains the same. Each designer tries their best to present the theme of their next collection and make an impact on the minds of the audience, whether through a simple playlist and runway or something more akin to a theatrical performance. From skateboards at Issey Miyake to a runway directly under the Eiffel Tower at Yves Saint Lauren, from the “jungle” of Christian Dior to the runway crasher at Chanel: some shows leave a greater impression than others. Here are some that stopped me in my tracks, whether from the show’s setting, the clothes, or both.

If you’ve made it this far, here’s a video from the Issey Miyake show (skip to 1:00 for my favorite part).
