The company’s title (pronounced say moowah) is French for  “It’s Me.” Co-founder and the current VP of Marketing for C’est Moi, Jennifer Saul, believes their company “truly embodies the idea of wanting to be you and that being you is beautiful.” The makeup and skincare are a great match for those with sensitive, delicate, and congested skin types. While the company targets girls who are beginning their beauty journeys, the products are appropriate for any age. Launched in January of 2018, the startup identifies as more than a beauty brand. Jennifer explains C’est Moi is a “symbol for youth, [a belief] in self-discovery, self-expression, curiosity, and that beauty should be good for you.”

C’est Moi works to deliver on their motto that “girls deserve better,” by offering safe, thoughtfully formulated products. Partnered with the Environmental Working Group,  a non-profit, non-partisan organization that ensures consumer products are safe for humans and the environment, nearly all of  C’est Moi’s products have undergone the rigorous process to be EWG VERIFIED™. This means that the products are free from ingredients banned in Europe and Canada and ingredients recognized by the State of California to be developmental toxins or to cause cancer. Jennifer adds, “we’re on the extra, extra, extra, extra, extra list in terms of being healthy.” All of C’est Moi’s 26 products have achieved a “low hazard” rating of 1 or 2 on a scale to 9 within EWG’s Skin Deep Database. Jennifer sees this success as a sort of ethical duty. “If [you know] there are certain ingredients that could contribute to harm, how could you put those [ingredients] in products?” C’est Moi was even featured on the Today Show for their commitment to consumer safety.

As someone who struggles with sensitive and congested skin, I was excited to give C’est Moi’s products a try. I tested three of the five Galentine’s Day Gift Sets. Find out what I thought below:

Set One: Sleepover Facial Mask Set$19.00

The set includes 1 “Purifying” charcoal clay facial mask (1 oz), 1 “Refreshing” papaya & strawberry seed scrub facial mask (1 oz), and 1 “Soothing” cucumber & aloe gel facial mask (1 oz).

Struggling with a variety of skin issues, like acne, oil, and dryness, I have experimented with a seemingly endless number of masks. But C’est Moi’s masks stand out because of how gentle they were on my skin. I was pleased with the charcoal mask’s power to draw out gunk and the cool feeling of the gel mask after a hot shower. Meanwhile, the refreshing scrub mask was truly amazing! I’m wary of exfoliators because of my sensitive skin, but the seeds felt like a relaxing, gentle massage. Once I rinsed the remainder off, my skin looked remarkably brighter and clean. This was essential after a long day of classes.

Clinically tested, hypoallergenic, vegan, no animal testing, fragrance free, phthalate free, sulfate free, paraben free.

Set Two: Vanilla Vibes Sugar & Butter$30.00

The set includes 1 Vanilla Vibes Sugar Balm Body Scrub (6 oz) and 1 Vanilla Vibes Nourishing Body Butter (6 oz).

C’est Moi recommends using the body scrub in the shower or bath as needed and following up with the body butter for smooth, hydrated skin. The scrub felt very gentle, exfoliating my skin without leaving it raw. The butter nourished the vulnerable skin, leaving any dry patches soft and smooth. Together, these products nicely repair any damage from Philadelphia’s drying winter weather. Because C’est Moi does not use synthetic fragrances, the scrub has a minimal scent. The butter, meanwhile, has a subtle fragrance that leaves traces of vanilla on the skin, without being too overpowering.

Clinically tested, hypoallergenic, vegan, no animal testing, no synthetic fragrance, phthalate free, sulfate free, paraben free.

Set Three: Lip Love Set$30.00

The set includes 1 Luminary Lip Crayon in Fresh (.10 oz), 1 Luminary Lip Crayon in Brave (.10 oz), and 1 Reflect Lip Gloss in Opulence (.11 fl oz).

I love this lip set! I sincerely struggle with applying lipstick and typically opt for a colored lipgloss instead. These lip crayons, however, were so easy to apply. They felt smooth and glided across my lips. The “Fresh” hue (left) is a pink-brown color perfect for a Saturday afternoon or lunch date. The “Brave” hue (middle) lives up to its name. The crayon applies as a gorgeous red with orange tones that would give anyone a boost of confidence for a night out or an interview. After applying the crayon, light reflects on the lips to instantly brighten your face. I enhanced this brightness with the lip gloss in Opulence. The nearly clear shade has a subtle shimmer, and can be worn by itself to offer some shine as you walk the dark halls of DRL.

Clinically Tested, hypoallergenic, vegan, no animal testing, fragrance free, talc free, phthalate free, sulfate free, paraben free.

Though I did not review the following two sets, they are also a part of the Galentine’s Day Collection and available on C’est Moi’s website:

Set Four: Visionary Makeup Set$69.00

The set includes 1 Luminary Lip Crayon in True (.10 oz), 1 Reflect Lip Gloss in Rise (.11 fl oz),  1 Visionary Makeup Crayon in Violet (.06 oz)and 1 Visionary Makeup Crayon in Daffodil (.06 oz), 1 Envision Eyeshadow Palette (.15 oz), and 1 Aspiring Cheek Palette (.37 oz).

The set is described on the website as “everything you need to create multiple looks while enhancing your favorite features.”

Set Five: Shimmer & Shine$25.00

The set includes 1 Vanilla Vibes Shimmer Body Lotion (5 oz) and 1 Reflect Lip Gloss in Bliss (.11 fl oz).

The set is described on the website to “give your skin and lips an effortless natural glow. Skin is finished with the perfect amount of shimmer, while lips are glazed with ultimate shine.”
