Mitchell Drop Cap 1here’s nothing better than going to the beach and feeling confident – though it’s much easier said than done. For a lesson in body confidence, look no further than the 1950’s beach babes. Continue reading for four ways to channel your inner vintage vixen.

High-Waisted

For those of us with less than six-pack abs, meet your new best friend: the high-waisted bikini.  It covers problem areas while drawing attention to the waist, and affords just the slightest peak of the midriff.  No wonder it’s a Taylor Swift fave.

Off-the-Shoulder

60 years later and the off-the-shoulder trend still going strong. Be like Hollywood icon Lauren Bacall and try a ruffle detail to give the illusion of an hourglass figure, or go for a more minimal style.  Either way, halter top tan lines be damned.

Statement Lips

Wearing a full face of makeup to the beach will inevitably lead to a hot mess, so keep it simple with a statement red lip.  Try a tinted balm with SPF for tanning or a liquid lipstick for color that will last through multiple mags.  Versatile!

Killer Sandals

There is no better way to ~elevate~ a bikini than through sandals.  A platform like Marilyn’s is comfy and can easily be worn from a day at the beach to a night under the stars.  Just don’t forget your coverup!
