Feeling Blue: A Photo Series

Llewellyn Drop Cap 1erhaps the only word in the English language that denotes both a color and an emotion, blue is clearly unique. But the common phrase “feeling blue” merely scratches the surface of the feelings that the color is capable of communicating. With the help of models Amy Juang (C’20), Rose Kong (C’19), Tong Pow (C’19), Teresa Zhao (C’20), and Faith Cho (C’20), The WALK explores the range of emotions evoked by shades of the infamous hue.

Blue is laughter, a soft aura reminiscent of days when we were young, the striped nightgowns of our childhood.

Blue is laughter, a soft aura reminiscent of days when we were young, the striped nightgowns of our childhood. It is also innocence, the moments realized we weren’t as young as we used to be and as old as we were yet to be.

Blue is power, that which we take for our own in the shadows.

Blue is quiet, the reflection we tell ourselves in the corners of silent moments.

And in spite of its connotation, Blue can be happiness, which we find in ourselves and others.
