Beauty: Spring Fling Makeup Look (Video)

Spring Fling represents a time when our products are truly put to the test as it is a weekend when one is exposed to the most extreme of elements. We have pooled together the most reliable of our products to create the ultimate fling make up look—one which will keep you looking composed and fierce, and your skin safe.

Beginning with a clean face, apply a strong moisturizer such as Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+. It preps your skin for the products to come, without feeling heavy or oily. Next, apply a generous layer of Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfecter (I use light/medium) to the entire face. Because it includes broad spectrum SPF 30, your beautiful face will be protected from the sun. Then, apply a concealer where needed. Maybelline Cover Stick concealer in medium beige, I needed to cover up a few spots and the under-eye area, prone to dark circles. Using a blending sponge or fingertips, blend concealer to create even coverage. Your lips also need to be protected from the damaging effects of the sun, do this by applying Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm SPF 20, in Quenched. At this point, I add additional liquid concealer under my eyes. I like to use e.l.f. Studio Duo Concealer/Highlighter in light, blend evenly with the pad of pinky finger. Now we can begin to prep for eye make up. Eyeshadow primer is crucial to avoid movement of eyeshadow into the crease of the eyelid, especially when there is sweat involved. Benefit Stay Don’t Stray shadow primer is true to its name; I used it in light/medium. Do not apply more than three dots above and below each eye (shown differently in the video because my supply was running out, whoops!).

Next, apply a creme shadow, it is better than powder shadow at staying put. Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal 24hr is ideal for fling because it stays vibrant for extended amounts of time, I used it in Silver Strike. Next apply a simple black wing of liquid liner, right up against the lashes. Don’t worry if it is not perfect. I used Revlon Color Stay Skinny liquid liner in blackout, the thin applicator is ideal for accuracy. I then used the same product but this time in electric blue to create a double wing. Do this by drawing a second wind right above the first. The electric blue is fun and different; I love this particular product because the pigment is dense and doesn’t fade. Finish off the eye look with a waterproof mascara, I used Benefit They’re Real mascara. Benefit dew the hoola bronzer help achieve a sun-kissed look, even though it’s not summer just yet. You can apply the bronzer to any amount of the face, but I prefer to stick to areas that naturally have shadows (under cheekbones, sides of the nose, and near the sides of the hairline of the forehead) because this helps add depth and dimension to the face.

Now that the bronzer has been applied and blended in, it’s time for a bit of blush. Use American Beauty Beloved Rose Powder Blush in rose shimmer to the apples of your cheeks (a similar blush can be found here). It is a very vibrant and sweet shade of pink, when used in moderation will give you the perfect pinky glow. For some extra highlight and subtle shimmer, apply the highlighter portion of the e.l.f. Studio Duo Concealer/Highlighter mentioned previously. Apply it to parts of the face that light would naturally hit, forehead, cheekbones, tip of nose, and so on. Dab gently with your finger to blend. Apply some color to the lip, I recommend something that is moisturizing. Bene balm by Benefit is a tinted lip balm, beautiful in color, rose, that looks great on every skin tone. Finally, one more product to hold the make up in place— mist your face with a a setting spray. I recommend Maybelline Master fix, setting spray.

You’re now ready to fling! Don’t forget to stay hydrated (for you and for your skin) and use sunscreen to keep that beautiful skin healthy and glowing. On behalf of the WALK, I wish you all a fun and safe fling!
