Finding your Winter Tint: This Season’s Most Irresistible Lip Shades

Now that the nippy December weather is upon us, it is officially time, mournfully, to pack up our parkas and capri pants, and jam our closet space with those chunky down jackets and endless pairs of woolen tights. Yet, as we make this transition into the dusky winter climate, we cannot forget that one seemingly insignificant — albeit so major — fashion statement: our lip color! Those red and coral shades to which we flocked during dry fall months now seem to hold too great a contrast amidst the crisp air and white snowflakes.

So what is our alternative? Does winter mean we just have to forfeit our lip fun for extra-strength ChapStick? Absolutely not! Thankfully, we have burgundy to answer our prayers.

The Homage to Berries:

For those who find themselves straying from the oxblood/maroon colors for more girly options, the deep berry shades are especially chic and fitting for the season. Lea Michelle is often seen rocking the L’Oreal Colour Riche Anti-Aging Lipstick in the “Berry Exciting” shade from, an especially feminine choice with a glossy finish. I find the Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick particularly gorgeous for the fall, as its deep rose tint is the perfect complement to any clothing ensemble.

For those Darker Days:

For those darker, wintry days when you find yourself hiding out from the cold in cozy coffee shops, and, of course, Van Pelt, we find the Chanel L’Impatiente Lip Shade the perfect accessory to start your day. This matte lipstick creates an almost effortless look, offering a to-die-for mixture of oxblood and plum colors.

More Moisturizing Option:

For all of you ChapStick fanatics, Fresh’s Sugar Berry Tinted Lip Treatment is designed just for your winter season. This tinted lip treatment not only offers your lips six hours of moisture, but also gives them a berry tint that makes it comparable to a regular lipstick. So if you find yourself unwilling to spend the time to find your “perfect” lip shade, this Fresh treatment is a great alternative, offering you a fresh color in a practical application.
