Turn up the Volume: Top 3 Headphone Hits

Every college student needs a quality pair of headphones — whether it’s for working out at the gym, walking down Locust, or just jamming out in your room. It’s easy to lose or break the earbuds that came with your iPod, and they don’t offer much in terms of sound quality (or comfort). Now is the time to invest in a pair of noise-canceling headphones that will enhance your entire music experience.

1. Sennheiser ($250)

Reviews rave that Sennheiser headphones are one of the best on the market.  They’re pricey but worth the investment.

Pros: Music can be paused and noise cancellation can be deactivated all without having to turn off the actual headphones.

Cons: They are a bit bigger than most other headphones.

2. Bose ($260-$300)

These Bose headphones are also expensive, but customers vouch for the Bose brand’s quality.

Pros: Critics love these headphones because of their comfort and compactness, not to mention their included 30-day home trial.

Cons: These headphones put some pressure when worn that can be mildly irritating to sensitive ears.

3. Beats by Dre Studio ($300)

Highly popular among our generation, Beats by Dre give great music quality with fashionable style.

Pros: There is a balanced audio response with a carrying case, and they come in a variety of color options.

Cons: They can’t be used without batteries, and the glossy design is prone to smudge marks.
