As college students, we all have those mornings when we wake up feeling like we’ve been hit by a train. Why does a night that seems so fun at the time produce one of the worst consequences in the world? The hangover.
If you’re like me, when you’re finally able to pull yourself out of bed, you only have one thing on your mind: what to eat to alleviate this pain. Cold leftover Beijing just won’t make the cut. We’ve got you covered with a variety of cures both on-campus and (if you’re feeling marginally energetic) off-campus.
AROUND PENN
Clockwise from left to right: Capogiro’s oatmeal won’t disappoint. Bui’s magical steak, egg, and cheese. Lyn’s egg white sandwich cannot lead you wrong.
1. Bacon or Steak, Egg, and Cheese from Bui’s Food Truck
It’s meaty, it’s cheesy, and it’s got that special sauce slathered all over its crusty, long roll. The classic combo just always seems to do the trick. Order it with double egg and extra sauce if you want to do it right. When you’re hung over and take a bite of this baby, the gates of heaven will open right before your eyes. I swear; I’ve seen it.
2. Spinach, Egg Whites, Cheese, Hot Sauce, and Ketchup on Rye from Lyn’s Food Truck
Sticking with the egg family, this sandwich from Lyn’s will have you feeling better before it even touches your lips — the idea of it is a cure alone. Its egg-to-bread ratio coupled with its oozing melty cheese ensures that each bite is equally divine. The kick from the hot sauce will help you perk up, but the sweetness of the ketchup makes sure that it’s not too hot. Don’t forget salt and pepper, and you might need to order two or three of these, because besides being delicious, they’re beyond addicting.
3. Oatmeal with Bananas and Brown Sugar from Capogiro
What better way to destroy a hangover than with a steaming bowl of oatmeal? I’ve tried oatmeal all over campus, and I find myself continually coming back for this one because of its texture. It’s hearty, thick, and grainy, yet still maintains that essential creamy component. Top it with brown sugar and bananas, and you’ll have yourself a bowl of oats that will kick your instant oatmeal’s ass times ten.
4. Brisket Hash from City Tap House
To me, this one is just obvious. A crispy potato pancake gets topped with a sunny-side up egg, house-smoked beef brisket, and is drizzled with béarnaise sauce. What more is there to say? It’s the ultimate cure, and its protein punch will make the climb back into bed that much easier. The combo of runny yolk on crispy potato and meaty brisket is almost too amazing to handle when you’re in this state—but I said almost.
OFF-CAMPUS
1. Breakfast Burrito from Green Eggs Cafe
Honestly, anything on this menu will wash a hangover away, but this option happens to be a personal favorite. Nestled in an enormous habañero tortilla blanket are eggs, potatoes, peppers, onions, chorizo, corn, and cheese. Oh, and then it’s topped with avocado, sour cream, Pico de Gallo and a healthy dose of fire-roasted red pepper black bean sauce. It’s huge, it’s filling, and it’s cure-worthy. You’ll finish it. Trust me.
2. Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes from Sabrina’s Cafe
Sometimes, something sweet is what you need to beat that gross feeling. These do the job, and then some. A stack of fluffy pancakes is speckled with chocolate chips and bananas. A classic combo, done right. Drown them in maple syrup, and bite by bite, say bye-bye to your headache.
3. Testina Hash Poutine from Alla Spina
Disclaimer: it is made of pig head. But if that doesn’t scare you, then you are in for a major treat. French fries topped with mozzarella curd, sunny-side up eggs and some pig head makes for a mean dish. The pig head lends a meaty porky flavor that meshes effortlessly with the saltiness of the fries and cheese. Don’t be scared of the pig head. Be scared that this plate is only served on Sundays.
4. Any Flatbread from Manakeesh Bakery
These flatbreads are salty, gooey, and pack all the carbs you need to fill your grumbling, struggling stomach. Whether you’re feeling like you want to go for the spicy lamb, or want to play it safe with strictly cheese, either way, you won’t be disappointed. Oh, and they deliver, making it completely acceptable to spend the day without leaving your bed.
5. Bagel from Spread Bagelry
Sometimes, you just gotta have bread—plain and simple. Spread Bagelry serves Montreal Style bagels, which are essentially wood oven bagels that are insanely fluffy, have a crispy exterior, and are bound to be some of the best you’ll ever eat. Everyone knows a bagel cures a hangover. These are no exception. Whether you want plain toasted with cream cheese, or cinnamon raisin with peanut butter and jam, you really can’t go wrong.
May your hangover be cured.

One thing I want to say is that often car insurance cancelling is a dreaded experience and if you are doing the appropriate things being a driver you won’t get one. Many people do obtain notice that they’ve been officially dropped by their insurance company and many have to fight to get supplemental insurance following a cancellation. Low-priced auto insurance rates are often hard to get from a cancellation. Having the main reasons with regard to auto insurance cancelling can help drivers prevent getting rid of in one of the most crucial privileges readily available. Thanks for the strategies shared by your blog.
