This Family Weekend (October 4th-7th), get ready to spend, spend, spend! Penn’s Panhellenic Association is having its first “Shop for Scholarship” shopping event. Shop for Scholarship benefits Panhel’s Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid to new members who could not otherwise afford to participate in Greek life. It’s a win-win situation for all: you get to purchase fabulous new items at discounted prices while showing your family around town, while you help Penn students who are otherwise limited financially from partaking in campus Greek life.
“Shop for Scholarship” has a diverse lineup of retailers located throughout the city, and all are offering a 10-15 percent discount, with 10 percent of the proceeds going to the scholarship fund.
Begin your day at Piper, a small boutique conveniently located at 34th and Walnut. Stocked with on-trend styles at moderate prices, Piper sells each style in limited quantities. So, have no fear –you won’t stroll down Locust Walk and see someone else in your outfit!
After your visit to Piper, venture off-campus (come on, you have to show your parents around!). Explore the unique lifestyle boutique, Aoki Boutique, at 22nd and Sansom, to stock up on street-style inspired merchandise. Walk just two blocks more, and refuel at Pure Fare, at 21st and Moravian, for a refreshing break with healthy, high-quality dishes that will give you enough energy to make it to the final two shopping destinations: South Moon Under, at 17th and Chestnut, and INTERMIX, at 17th and Walnut. South Moon Under, which began as a boardwalk surf shop, stays true to its original flare with funky clothing for both women and men. The newly-opened Philadelphia location of INTERMIX is filled with women’s high-end designer clothes and accessories to die for. Take advantage of this special discount and indulge in a Missoni sweater, a functional Mulberry cross-body bag, or sky-high Brian Atwood pumps.
Shopping in Philly is a great way to explore the city and spend a relaxing day catching up with your family. The “Shop for Scholarships” event is just another excuse to buy that knit sweater you’ve been eyeing. Do your part, and shop ’til you drop!
