The Spanish Flair

I can’t call myself an expert in Spanish fashion just yet, but my trip there this summer has left me with a number of tips and trends to try here in America.

1. We’ve all seen the harem pants trend in the past few seasons and it’s no secret: it’s beginning to disappear. However, I am going to try with all my might to get these pants back on the streets.  During the summer, these loose fitting pants are one of the best ways to beat the heat while still looking fashion-forward. Pair them with a plain tank-top or t-shirt, load on the jewelry, and voilà! You can make them work for a job, a trip to the mall, a girls night out, etc.  Reminder: Don’t store these bad boys in the back of your closet when the fall comes around. Try working the layers on top with a chunky sweater and even a leather jacket to look effortlessly chic.

2. Continuing with my flowing pants rant, I’m really loving any type of flared trousers for the summer and the spring.  Free People has a number of different bold styles and cuts that go great with a plain white tee and chunky jewelry.  My favorite thing about this look is how effortless it is; it has the vibe that you just rolled out of bed but still look like a million bucks.  The key is to pick a fabric that’s light and breezy so the pants don’t look heavy as if they are dragging you down. And keep in mind, pick a size that fits loose on the legs. If they are too tight, it ruins the proportions of the entire outfit– Go big or go home!

3. The last tip I can give is that almost everyone I saw in Spain rocked their outfits with 110% confidence.  It didn’t matter if they were wearing sweatpants (luckily no one was) or designer duds, everyone seemed comfortable and happy with themselves.  This is what really made Spanish women stand out to me. Let’s try and bring more of this to the States, ladies!
