For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Chloe and I’m a make-up junkie. It’s been a problem since I was in fifth grade when my mom let me try on my first lipstick; I still remember the color: “Pink Beach” by Clinique. I could pay a years worth of rent with all the money I have wasted on make-up, but lucky for me, I’ve had the opportunity to make this passion something meaningful by doing hair and make-up for The WALK magazine. I think beauty comes from many things, and make-up is there to help build your confidence and put your best self forward every single day. If you love glitter eye-shadow, go balls to the wall and rock it. If you love cherry lipstick (although not too many can pull it off), wear it with pride and kiss as many cheeks as you can. However, I might advise you: try not to wear it with that glitter eye-shadow… less is more. In the end though, the smile on your face is the best make-up out there. No amount of foundation can even come close.
So, now that I’ve done my introduction, I’m here to tell you about my new weekly post, entitled “What’s In My Makeup Bag?”. My job is to try all the bad mascaras at CVS and save you the money while making sure you select the best one. If you want a lip stain, please, don’t try the new Revlon, “Just Bitten” pen… it stinks and the colors are ugly! If you haven’t gotten the jist of it… keep reading.
My top three this week:
1. L’Oreal Voluminous False Lashes: I don’t usually look to L’Oreal when it comes to mascara. I’m a stickler for my Dior Show and Maybelline Colossal Volume Express. However, when you see Gwen Stefani’s outrageous “false lash look” on the L’Oreal commercials, I can tell you that her eyelashes are real. This is the best drugstore mascara I have ever used and it works just as well, if not better than my Dior Show; plus, you can buy four of these for the price of one of those!
2. Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator: I got this in my Christmas stocking and haven’t been able to put it down since. Known for making J-Lo’s skin glow, this illuminator will give you that sun-kissed look all year round. It’s a sheer, lightweight highlighter that you can use for all over color or just to contour cheeks and browbones. It comes in both blush and bronze (which I recommend). I use it to define my cheekbones and to add some extra shine with a little dab on my nose!
3. Revlon Protective Lip Tint: In the spring time, lipstick is annoying. I for one always have chapped lips and I hate the way it feels. This lip tint is much lighter than a lipstick and more like a lip balm in texture with the added bonus of color. Every shade is flawless, and it even contains SPF!
