Penn Style Crush: Sophie Kim

Whether you know this sophomore sweetheart as a violin player, City Step member, Ben Franklin scholar, or Cognitive Science major, you know she’s a natural fashionista too.

Sophie loves to complement boyish pieces, like her skull tee from Uniqlo, with feminine details like her cream lace skirt from Club Monaco and adorable velvet bow Marni shoes.

She looks to her fashion icon, Alexa Chung, and favorite designer, Isabel Marant, for their tough and girly style, but she gets ideas for how to keep it simple from other fave brands like Alexander Wang and Jil Sander.

Sophie’s favorite color is a purple-burgundy, like the color of the vintage shoes she found in New York City. Though she loves mixing different patterns and colors, she is also a big fan of staying neutral. Check out how she layered her Club Monaco polka-dot shirt with a neutral sweater from Aritzia.

Some of Sophie’s favorite accessories come from India or Thailand (where she’s from) and each of her bracelets has a story. If she’s not globetrotting, you’ll probably find her shopping at boutiques in NYC (she recommends checking out East Village for some great finds). While in Philly, Sophie likes thrifting for chic pieces at Bella Consignment close in Society Hill or dining at Audrey Claire or Talula’s Garden.
We fell hard for our Style Crush, Sophie Kim. The next time you see her on campus, whether she’s testing her chops at photography or checking out some of her favorite Penn groups, Strictly Funk and Excelano Project, we know you’ll fall head over heels for this stylish sophomore too.
