It’s rush season again!! The lovely time when girls put on their best to impress and try to get into the greek organization that fits them best. It’s the time to display the best of your personalities and truly showcase what makes you be you and how exactly you will add to the sorority. (Also, don’t forget to check out our Recruitement Guide 101, where we tell you exactly what’s appropriate to wear for each round!)
So naturally, you have to look good doing it.
Being the kind and generous person that I am, as a sorority girl who has gone through the process before, I thought I’d share some tips for how to conquer rush season.
1. 5 inch heels are not your friend.
While yes, everyone wants to look super duper cute and better than the girl next to her, nobody wants to be that girl that faceplants in the middle of locust trying to run from one house to the other. IT HAPPENS. DON’T BE FACEPLANT FRANNY. People will laugh, hard.
The easiest thing to do is bring a nicely sized tote bag, throw your Uggs in them, and be a happy camper while standing in line.
2. Wear a brightly colored jacket.
Hundreds of girls will be passing in and out of each house and unless you want to explain to your parents how you lost your brand new Marc Jacobs black peacoat within a week of getting it, then follow this advice. Even if its not the cutest jacket, you’ll be less likely to be late to your houses, and less likely to annoy the girl tasked with the mission of finding your coat among a pile of similarly darkly hued jackets. Avoid black, navy and gray, bust out that NEON.

3. Tights.
Wear them. It’s winter, and it’s going to be way colder than you think. There is no fun to be had in waiting outside in the cold for 30-45 minutes. So to make it bearable, throw on some flesh tone leggings or tights that perfectly complement your dress and shoes or even some super cute patterned tights that give you some edge. Either way, when the boys walk by you and the rest of the girls lined up outside a house, you can join in the laughter at the girls who failed to dress appropriately.

4.Make-up, hair, accessories. Less is more.
Everyone is trying to outdo the next person. Make sure not to fall into this trap. There is nothing more distracting than trying to talk to a girl who is constantly tugging at her necklace, re-adjusting her earrings or re-bobby-pinning her hair. Keep your necklaces short so that you’re not tempted to play with them mid-conversation and with make-up and hair keep it simple, you’ll be on your feet a lot, running back and forth between houses, you want something simple but elegant and most importantly long-lasting.You can never have too much hair spray and instead of going heavy on the make up, use waterproof products that will last longer and products that will be less obvious when they fade. (Nobody wants racoon eyes)
5. The outfit.
Ahhh yes, the bane of every girls existence. What to wear?
Well, fret not darlings, there are several resources online that come to the rescue by posting super cute and appropriate outfit ideas that will certainly make your life a million times easier.

“Remember, your dresses should always be tight enough to show that you are a woman, and loose enough to show that you are a lady.”
Rush is a grueling process, don’t let anyone lie to you and tell you it’s not, but on bid day, this moment,

Makes it all worth it.
So my advice? The best thing you can wear for rush is your confidence. Feel good, look good.
And most importantly, channel your inner Elle Woods.
