The Recessionista Tackles Exploring the Blogosphere

Vintage Virgin doing what she does best: being fierce.

Blogging has become an integral part of the Fashion industry; through blogging we gain insight into the personal style of people all over the world and are granted the opportunity to expand our ever growing style-minds. In fact, The Walk‘s very on Grace Guan recently wrote a post, “Exploring the Blogosphere” (sound familiar?) that inspired me to write this very post on bloggers.

While the inspiration we get from blogs such as Karla’s Closet and Rumi Neely’s Fashion Toast is endless, at times it’s hard to be more inspired than depressed by watching people strut in Louboutin platforms and get personal invitations to Theysken’s Theory showrooms.

While I wait for my invitation to the showroom (must have gotten lost in the mail) I’ve compiled a list of my favorite fierce, affordable, style bloggers:

1)    Vintage Virgin (

Her style is very hard, very rocker, and very chic. What I love about VV is that there are times when she is dressed in head to toe vintage. To me, she redefined vintage shopping; I had no clue that one could use vintage stores to find non-Grandma-chic clothes. She can and so can you. Visit the Buffalo Exchange on 17th street for some amazing vintage finds.

2)    Color Me Nana (

Philly native Dylana Suarez rocks a more boho-chic style, often pairing neutrals and loose fitting solids with Doc Martin’s or oxfords. While I wouldn’t consider her style cheap (you really don’t know the extent of my frugality) her wardrobe pieces are usually in the range of Free People, which is a heck of a lot cheaper than Burberry.

3)    GabiFresh (

Gabi is a plus-sized blogger who can rock a body-con dress as well any Victoria’s Secret model.  She manages to find the best pieces from places like Forever 21 and (my home away from home). Whether you’re plus sized or not, her blog is a great inspiration hub.
