Having trouble parting with your favorite summer items? You don’t have to! Here are a few ways to wear your summer staples well into the fall months. You can hang on to your clothes a little longer and your wallet will be happy, too!
Denim Shorts
Hold on to those denim cut-offs you’ve been wearing all summer. They look great with a billowy blouse in the early days of fall. Or for chillier days, pair them with a sweater, like Alexa Chung does here.

Floral Dress
Don’t let go of your favorite summer dress yet, either. With some layering, it can add some color and girliness to your fall wardrobe. Try wearing it with a leather jacket for some edge (and warmth!) and tall boots to complete the look.

Wedges
Your favorite summer kicks don’t have to go into storage yet. It’ll still be warm for a while, so wear them while you can. Balance them out with more subdued fall tones and jeans, like Kim Kardashian’s look here.

Accessories
A few basic accessories can make an outfit work perfectly for fall. A lightweight scarf in a knit or print adds interest and makes an outfit work well for the colder season. And adding basic black tights under any shorts or dresses lets you wear them for longer!

Great article! Sometimes I find that denim shorts with tights can take a turn from the path of beauty righteousness and veer into fuglyness, but it depends on the person. Also I think if someone has a monochromatic dress and is on the more daring side she can pair it with my favorite: a fur vest!
