Everyone’s beloved shoe designer Christian Louboutin created a pair of 8-inch tall ballet flats for the English National Ballet, featuring the brand’s trademark red soles. Next week the footwear will be put into public auction, hoping to raise money in support of the ENB, which has been facing serious financial problems lately.
Louboutin said: “Isn’t the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel? The heel which makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, closer to heaven.”
The sale, which includes costumes specially made for the ENB dancers by Giles, Moschino and Erdem, aims to raise at least £50,000 to cover a cut in funding of £2mil. until 2015.
