Because of its bright and open atmosphere, walking into the Art Star feels like entering an airy gallery. However, unlike the bank-breaking numbers hidden in the typical nondescript price list, this boutique’s often hand-made pieces are affordable and better yet, many are wearable. From ironically decorated dishware featuring beautiful bugs to funky and original clothing and jewelry, Art Star is a gem among the quirky shops that line the streets of Philadelphia. Located in the Northern Liberties section of the city, visiting Art Star can be a bit of a trek, yet the surrounding area remains under-explored by many Penn students and warrants a trip. Each item in the boutique is carefully chosen and arranged by the store’s owners, who have a great eye for design.
